Stafford Green brings a wealth of leadership experience to the Floating Homes Association, with a career spanning multiple industries and continents. His background includes executive roles in HR, IT, finance, operations, and marketing, working in startups and global corporations. Having lived and worked in Paris, London, Atlanta, Oslo, Vienna, Copenhagen, and Berlin, he has developed a unique ability to navigate complex projects, diverse teams, and large-scale initiatives.

A strong advocate for community engagement, Stafford values the rich history and collective wisdom that define Seattle’s floating home community. He recognizes these homes as a true national treasure—an iconic and irreplaceable part of the city’s waterfront identity. His leadership is focused on preserving this legacy while ensuring the community thrives in the future. Beyond his professional expertise, Stafford’s experiences reflect a broad and dynamic career. He has collaborated with Apple Music executives on concerts inside the Eiffel Tower with Siouxsie Sioux, overseen the construction of Fruitopia factories in Norway, and directed Coca-Cola television ads in Los Angeles. His ability to adapt, strategize, and execute across industries and cultures makes him a valuable asset to the FHA. Sheri has lived in Houseboat D (‘the smiley-face houseboat’) on Portage Bay Place East since 1982. She grew up in Southeast Missouri and received her Masters in Public Administration from the UW. She previously served on the FHA Board beginning in 1992 for around 20 years, was very involved in the effort to get the DNR lease 30 years ago, and served as Chair of the FHA Legislative Committee and later as President for several terms. Her main interests are in legislative and urban affairs. She has worked at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center since 1992, currently as a research administrator in the Public Health Sciences Division. She serves as Chair of the Government and Neighborhood Relations Committee.

Linda has lived on her floating home since 1969, making her one of the longest-residing members of our community. She’s a retired registered nurse, and her late husband Jim was a pediatrician who shared her love for the floating home lifestyle. Linda helped organize the very first Floating Homes Tour back in the late ’70s alongside Jan McFarland. She assists with quarterly Dock Leadership Team meetings and has volunteered with intern Chloe to archive FHA materials. Outside the FHA, she has played violin with the Music Lovers group and raised a son who now teaches art and graphic novels at the college level. “Behind that quick wit is a kindness and curiosity,” says friend Kristin Green. “Linda is just so much fun to be around.”

Megan has lived on a floating home in Eastlake for over a decade and loves this quirky, close-knit community. She attended the University of Washington for both undergraduate (English Literature) and graduate school (Finance MBA). After moving to Eastlake right after college, she would walk the neighborhood and dream of life on a floating home, making that dream a reality many years later. She currently serves as board chair of Safe Crossings Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to helping grieving children heal and get back to being kids again after the loss of a loved one. She finds the most meaning in community work and considers it an unbelievable privilege to live in this sanctuary nestled in the heart of Seattle.

Melissa has lived on a floating home for 25 years and feels deeply connected to this unique and vibrant community. She’s married and a proud mom to a wonderful 15-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old Havanese dog. She’s been a realtor in this community for over 20 years, helping neighbors buy and sell floating homes with care and local insight. David is a software engineer based in Seattle, currently working at Amazon in the Alexa for Enterprise division. He graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Software Engineering and led a senior design project on disaster relief technology as part of IBM’s Call for Code initiative. Growing up on Lake Minnetonka in Minnesota, he developed a love for water and boating from an early age. After moving to Seattle, he discovered floating homes and fell in love with living on the water. When not coding or volunteering, he loves photography and capturing adventures, portraits, and events. Becca has lived on Flo Villa dock for more than 10 years, including 9 years as dock Secretary, Secretary/Treasurer, and now VP/Secretary. She and her husband Derek Bottles recently retired from 25+ year careers, so the time has come to expand their community involvement. They are avid boaters with multiple sailboats, a power boat in Anacortes, and more watercraft at their cabin on Lopez Island. They’re headed to Lake Garda, Italy to compete in Tasar sailing worlds this summer and have launched a business providing marine surveying and interior yacht detailing. She’s excited to lend her career experience as a designer and user experience design leader to updating the FHA website and logo.

Sarah downsized from a large suburban house in Sammamish to a floating home on Roanoke Reef a few years ago and has never looked back. Originally from England, she works as the Technology & Communications Director at a private school on the Eastside. Living on Lake Union is a dream for her. In her spare time, you’ll find her tending her P Patch allotment or out on the water with her husband, kids, or dog. Her role with the FHA is to help organize and streamline membership records. John is a retired engineer who spent his career designing medical devices. Born in Norway, raised in New York, and a Washington resident since 1977, he attended the University of Washington and has lived on two houseboats over the years, including his current one on Westlake. In his free time, he loves being outdoors and spending time on just about any type of watercraft. He cares deeply about the Floating Homes Community and is committed to helping it thrive while ensuring the Lake’s resources are shared fairly by everyone. Note: John will step down as Committee Lead in the coming weeks and continue as a valued committee member, with Katheryn Hayes taking on the leadership role.

Brendan lives on the Boston Rose Dock, two blocks south of Pete’s Market. His first memory of a floating home comes from looking out on Portage Bay through his parents’ 1996 minivan window. He never imagined he’d be living in a floating home until his then-girlfriend (now wife) insisted they move from a 900 sq/ft apartment to a 450 sq/ft single wide in March 2020. Five years, three moves and one sailboat later, the hooks are certainly in. He’s grateful for the experiences, friendships and conversations the floating home community has provided. On land, he’s a committed husband, responsible dog dad and practicing small business owner who loves cooking, writing, making coffee, bird watching and practicing yoga.

Jason is a lifelong Pacific Northwest resident who has been enjoying life in the floating home community for the past four years. He’s a proud UW alum with degrees in electrical engineering and business. He and his wife Yao are raising their energetic daughter, and when he’s not exploring new places or trying great food, you’ll find him cheering on his favorite sports teams, playing tennis, or spending time outdoors with his family. He leads the FHA Safety Committee and recently coordinated emergency training drills with Fire Station 22.

Stephanie lives on The Log Foundation dock in Eastlake with her partner Dave and their 5-month-old puppy, Otis. They’ve been floating home owners for 2 years, having spent the prior 30 years on Capitol Hill raising their 3 kids: Hannah, Connor, and Chloe. Dave recently retired from a 40-year career in finance while Stephanie continues her work as an architect. They love the beauty and simplicity of living on the lake in a close and caring community. Look for her shopping at Pete’s, drinking coffee at Fram, kayaking to work, running around the lake, or picking up trash with her trash-grabbers.
