Emergency Preparation

Seattle Prepares offers emergency prep classes (you can find out when they are scheduled on their website). Ann Forrest (SeattlePrepares@gmail.com) has kindly offered to share the handouts from a recent course we attended. Although it’s not as good as attending the actual classes, the handouts and slides provide a wealth of information.

Bad Weather Preparation

See our floating home preparation list. Sign up for AlertSeattle, the city’s emergency alert system that delivers texts, emails, and voice calls about power outages, missed garbage pickups, and water service issues. In the event that the city needs to come out and fix something (fallen tree, potholes in the road), use the city’s Find it, Fix it app to report the problem.

Low Lake Level Preparation

Lower lake levels can affect floating homes in several important ways—some subtle, others more serious. Visit our Low Lake Level Preparation guide to learn what floating homeowners should monitor and how we can help each other.
